Toyota Remains Leader of the Polish Passenger Car Market with 19.2% Share

After three quarters of 2023, Toyota retains its position as the leader of the Polish passenger car market. In the first nine months of this year, a total of 67,118 cars of the brand have been registered, a result that is 21% better than the period from January to September 2022. Almost one in five new cars hitting Polish roads this year is a Toyota, and the 19.2% market share is 1.7 percentage points better than last year.

In September alone, 8,495 new Toyotas were registered, that’s more than the next two brands combined. This is over three thousand more copies than in September 2022 (54% increase). Toyota is the most frequently chosen brand by both individual customers (2,458 copies, 23% share) and companies (6,037 copies, 21.3% share).

Corolla most commonly registered car in 2023

The most popular passenger car in Poland remains the Toyota Corolla. The Japanese compact leads the list of the top ten most-registered models, five of which are Toyotas after three quarters. From January to September, 18,405 Corollas have been registered, a result 14% better than last year. In September alone, 2,726 Corollas were registered, available as a hatchback, sedan or station wagon.

The second most popular car in Poland is the Yaris. In three quarters, 11,513 copies of this city hatchback have already been registered. The Yaris Cross (9,812 copies) is in fourth place, the Toyota C-HR is in sixth place (7,602 copies), and the RAV4 is in tenth place (5,923 copies).

After nine months, five Toyota models are leading their segments. The Aygo X ranks first in the mini car segment with 2,550 registered cars. This revolutionary crossover holds 33.1% market share in its segment. The Yaris with a 29.5% share leads among city cars, while the Yaris Cross is the most registered representative in the B-SUV segment. Toyota’s car has a 23% share in its class. In the C segment, the Corolla’s domination is unquestionable (27.3% share), and in the C-SUV segment, the Toyota C-HR takes the lead (13.5% share).

Toyota Professional with an increasingly strong position

On the commercial vehicle market, Toyota Professional is strengthening its position. After three quarters of 2023, the brand registered 5,206 cars. The 52% increase compared to last year is even more impressive considering that the entire commercial vehicle market grew by 3% during this time. After nine months, Toyota Professional already has an 11% share of this market (up by 3.5 points year-on-year).

September was particularly successful for Toyota’s commercial vehicles. In the ninth month of 2023, 658 vehicles were registered, 114% more than in September last year.

The most frequently registered commercial model of Toyota is the PROACE CITY, which has been the leader of the CDV segment without interruption since 2021. In September, 403 copies of this combo van were registered, and since the beginning of the year, there have been 2,933, giving the model a 29.4% share in the segment.

The most popular pick-up in Poland remains the Hilux. In September, 146 copies of this reliable and strong vehicle left dealerships. Since the beginning of the year, 1,163 Hiluxes have been registered, and this model has a 41.3% share in the pick-up segment.

In the highly competitive MDV segment, the PROACE model maintains its position at the forefront with a 13.6% share. In September, 91 copies of this van were registered, bringing the total for the year to 755.
