recorded a clear increase in tourist traffic. A total of 7,719.2 thousand people used tourist accommodation facilities. This was 12.4% more than in 2024. The number of overnight stays reached 12,507.3 thousand, up 12.2% year on year.

The data show that Mazowieckie remains one of Poland’s most important tourism regions, although its profile differs from typical leisure destinations. Business, urban, cultural and international tourism play a major role here, concentrated primarily around Warsaw.

In 2025, the occupancy rate of bed places in the voivodeship stood at 46.4%, 1.2 percentage points higher than a year earlier. This means that not only the number of tourists increased, but also the efficiency of accommodation capacity use.

Accommodation Base Larger Than a Year Earlier

At the end of July 2025, there were 648 tourist accommodation facilities operating in Mazowieckie Voivodeship. Together, they offered 79,779 bed places. Compared with the same period of 2024, the number of facilities increased by 14.3%, while the number of bed places rose by 10.6%.

More than half of accommodation facilities were located in the Warsaw capital region. This shows the strong concentration of tourism in Mazowieckie around the capital city. Warsaw remains the main centre for business, conference, cultural and international arrivals.

Hotel-type facilities accounted for the largest part of the accommodation base. At the end of July 2025, there were 372 such facilities, including 270 hotels. There were also 276 other accommodation facilities. In this group, guest rooms and hostels played the most important role.

Hotels Dominate Tourism in Mazowieckie

Hotels remain the most important category of the accommodation base in Mazowieckie. They offered 53,895 bed places, or 67.6% of all bed places in the voivodeship. Compared with 2024, the number of hotel bed places increased by 6.1%.

In 2025, hotel-type facilities were used by 6,755.3 thousand tourists. This accounted for 87.5% of all tourists using accommodation in the voivodeship. Hotels alone served 6,238.2 thousand people, or 80.8% of all tourists using the accommodation base in Mazowieckie.

Hotels also accounted for the vast majority of overnight stays. In 2025, they provided 9,598.1 thousand overnight stays, or 76.7% of all overnight stays in the voivodeship.

Warsaw Accounts for Most Tourist Traffic

Tourist traffic in Mazowieckie remains strongly concentrated in the Warsaw capital region. In 2025, accommodation facilities located in this region were used by 6,580.2 thousand tourists. This represented 85.2% of all tourists using accommodation in the voivodeship.

A total of 10,522.7 thousand overnight stays were provided there, or 84.1% of all overnight stays in the voivodeship. By comparison, in the regional Mazowieckie region, accommodation was used by 1,139.0 thousand people, who were provided with 1,984.6 thousand overnight stays.

The largest number of accommodation facilities operated in Warsaw. At the end of July 2025, there were 225 tourist accommodation facilities in the capital, offering 45,509 bed places. This means that Warsaw accounted for 57.0% of all bed places in the voivodeship.

Outside Warsaw, the largest numbers of bed places were located in Legionowo County and in Radom.

Foreign Tourists Returned More Strongly Than Domestic Tourists

In 2025, 2,181.1 thousand foreign tourists used tourist accommodation facilities in Mazowieckie. This was 17.0% more than a year earlier. Their share in the total number of tourists stood at 28.3%.

Domestic tourists still accounted for the majority of those using accommodation, but their growth rate was lower than that recorded among foreign visitors. The data therefore show that the recovery and development of international tourism was one of the key factors behind the growth of tourism in Mazowieckie in 2025.

Visitors from Europe dominated among foreign tourists. A total of 1,531.6 thousand European tourists used accommodation, representing 70.2% of foreign tourists visiting the region.

The largest group were tourists from Ukraine, at 341.2 thousand people. They were followed by visitors from the United States, at 280.3 thousand, and Germany, at 219.5 thousand.

Most Tourists in September, Fewest in February

Seasonality in tourist traffic in Mazowieckie was visible, although less typical than in leisure-oriented regions. The highest number of tourists visited the voivodeship in September — 747.8 thousand people. The lowest number was recorded in February — 451.6 thousand.

Among domestic tourists, the highest figure was recorded in August — 499.8 thousand people, while the lowest was also in February — 340.0 thousand. Among foreign tourists, the best month was August, when 248.0 thousand visitors used accommodation. February was the weakest month, with 111.6 thousand.

The highest number of overnight stays was recorded in August — 1,265.6 thousand — and the lowest in February — 749.6 thousand. The data indicate that despite the business and urban character of the region, the holiday period and early autumn remain key periods for tourism in Mazowieckie.

Average Stay Remains Short

The average length of stay in accommodation facilities in 2025 was 1.6 nights. This was the same as a year earlier. Among foreign tourists, the average stay was slightly longer, at 1.7 nights.

The short average length of stay confirms the specific nature of tourism in Mazowieckie. The region, and Warsaw in particular, attracts many business trips, conferences, short city breaks and transit stays. It is therefore not a tourism model based mainly on long leisure stays.

Hotel Occupancy Above Average

In 2025, the occupancy rate of bed places in hotel-type facilities stood at 48.6%, 0.9 percentage points higher than a year earlier. In other accommodation facilities, the rate was 37.0%, an increase of 4.8 percentage points.

In hotel-type facilities, 6,868.9 thousand rooms were rented, 6.9% more than in 2024. Hotels alone accounted for 6,274.1 thousand rented rooms, up 6.4%.

The overall hotel room occupancy rate stood at 62.4%, 1.3 percentage points higher than a year earlier. The highest room occupancy was recorded in June and September — 69.7% in each month — while the lowest was in January, at 50.2%.

Five-Star Hotels Performed Best

Among hotels, the highest occupancy rate of bed places was recorded in five-star establishments. It stood at 60.7%. Hotels in this category also achieved the highest room occupancy rate, at 70.3%.

Five-star hotels were used by 903.9 thousand tourists, who were provided with 1,436.9 thousand overnight stays. However, the largest group in terms of tourist numbers was served by four-star hotels, which accommodated 2,256.0 thousand people and provided 3,370.6 thousand overnight stays.

Three-star hotels served 1,936.1 thousand tourists and provided 2,962.9 thousand overnight stays. The data confirm that the hotel market in Mazowieckie is diversified, but mid-range and higher-standard facilities hold a particularly strong position.

Conference Tourism Is an Important Part of the Market

Mazowieckie also remains an important centre for business and conference tourism. In 2025, conferences could be organised in 263 tourist accommodation facilities. This represented 40.6% of all such facilities in the voivodeship.

In total, accommodation facilities offered 1,122 conference rooms with 72,438 seats. The largest number of conference rooms was located in hotels — 195 hotel-type facilities had such infrastructure.

The importance of this segment is particularly significant for Warsaw, which combines administrative, business, financial and international functions. As a result, business tourism remains one of the pillars of accommodation traffic in the region.

Tourism in Mazowieckie Is Growing, but Remains Dependent on Warsaw

The 2025 data show that tourism in Mazowieckie Voivodeship was in a phase of clear growth. The number of tourists, overnight stays, accommodation facilities and occupancy rates all increased. The number of foreign tourists rose particularly strongly.

At the same time, tourism in Mazowieckie remains heavily concentrated in Warsaw and the Warsaw capital region. The capital accounts for the majority of bed places and attracts the largest share of tourist traffic. This is an advantage, but also a challenge for the more balanced development of tourism in other parts of the voivodeship.

The greatest potential for further growth may be linked to the development of business, conference, urban and cultural tourism, but also to better use of the tourism offer outside Warsaw. The increase in the number of tourists in the regional Mazowieckie region shows that this direction of development is possible.

Data source: Statistics Poland / Statistical Office in Warsaw.

In 2025, 7.7 million tourists used tourist accommodation facilities in Poland’s Mazowieckie Voivodeship, 12.4% more than a year earlier.
