sales in Poland accelerated markedly in June 2026. At constant prices, they were 6.2% higher than a year earlier and increased by 1.4% compared with May. From January to June, sales rose by 3.5% year on year. Compared with May, they increased by 1.7%.<\/p>\n\n<p>Statistics Poland noted that the strong annual growth in sales was influenced, among other factors, by a larger number of trading days than in June 2025. This means that part of the acceleration may have resulted from the calendar effect, although growth also remained positive after seasonal adjustment.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"retail26-note\">\n  <strong>Important:<\/strong> data at constant prices show the change in the actual volume of sales after eliminating the impact of price changes. Sales were 10.3% higher than in the corresponding period of the previous year.<\/p>\n\n<p>Sales of pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and orthopaedic equipment increased by 7.9% in the first half of the year. Growth in the \u201cother\u201d group reached 7.5%, while sales of furniture, consumer electronics and household appliances rose by 7.0%.<\/p>\n\n<p>Sales of food, beverages and tobacco products remained below the level recorded in the first half of 2025, declining by 1.1%. Sales of newspapers, books and other goods offered by specialised stores also fell, by 1.7%.<\/p>\n\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Online_sales_increased_by_123\"><\/span>Online sales increased by 12.3%<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n<p>The value of online retail sales at current prices was 12.3% higher in June than a year earlier. The share of e-commerce in total retail sales increased from 8.7% in June 2025 to 9.1% in June 2026.<\/p>\n\n<p>The growing importance of the online channel was particularly visible in sales of furniture, consumer electronics and household appliances, as well as newspapers and books.
