Polish retail sales rose 3.3% year on year in constant prices in September 2026, compared with a 6.4% increase a year earlier. Growth was stronger for durable goods: motor vehicle sales climbed 13.1%, while furniture, consumer electronics and household appliances rose 10.7%.

After seasonal adjustment, retail sales were 2.9% higher than in September 2025. The figures point to continued expansion in household consumption, even as overall growth remains moderate.

Durable goods outperform

Double-digit growth in vehicles and household equipment contrasts with the broader retail market. Stronger demand for these items may indicate that some consumers are allocating more of their disposable income to purchases they can postpone during periods of uncertainty.

Online sales jump 18.7%

E-commerce turnover rose by 18.7% year on year and accounted for 10.1% of total retail sales. The channel grew much faster than the market as a whole, continuing to gain share.

Outlook for household spending

Further positive consumption growth is possible in the coming months, although purchasing decisions remain cautious among some households. The September data show positive underlying demand alongside a slower headline retail growth rate.
