Firma Pogrzebowa Klepsydra, part of Warsaw-listed Grupa Klepsydra, has launched a project to build the first columbarium and a new services building at the Evangelical-Augsburg cemetery in Łódź. The investment is intended to increase burial capacity and improve facilities for visiting families.

A columbarium with 120 niches

The planned free-standing columbarium will contain 120 urn niches, each with space for up to four urns. The company says the design aims to increase burial capacity while respecting the cemetery’s historic character. The development was formally inaugurated on 22 October 2026, when visitors were shown project visualisations and samples of the planned niches.

Rafał Cichewicz, president of Firma Pogrzebowa Klepsydra, and Michał Makula, pastor of the St Matthew Evangelical-Augsburg parish in Łódź, presented the project.

New administration and services building

A second part of the investment will replace the existing service building with a new facility combining a funeral services office, florist, technical rooms and sanitary facilities. The company expects the new premises to streamline paperwork related to burials and improve visitors’ access to services.

Klepsydra manages the cemetery and says the development responds to changing burial preferences, including demand for urn interments. The announcement did not state the overall capital expenditure or an opening date.
