Services production in Poland increased by 6.6% year on year in April 2026, almost twice as fast as a year earlier, when the growth rate stood at 3.7%. However, the solid overall result conceals substantial differences between industries: real estate activities and telecommunications recorded double-digit growth, while film and recording production fell by more than one-third compared with March.

According to preliminary data from Statistics Poland, total services production fell by 1.8% compared with March 2026, which is typical for this sequence of months and largely reflects seasonal factors. After seasonal adjustment, production increased by 6.4% year on year and declined by 1.3% month on month. Compared with average monthly services production in 2021, used as the base value of 100, services production in April 2026 was 30.1% higher on a seasonally adjusted basis.

Real estate and information services drive growth, while administrative services lose momentum

Among the sections with the largest share in the overall index, the fastest growth in April 2026 was recorded in Section J, information and communication, at 9.7% year on year, and Section H, transportation and storage, at 6.8%. The strongest growth among all sections was recorded in real estate activities, which increased by 11.9% year on year. Administrative and support service activities were the only section to record a year-on-year decline, falling by 0.4%.

Winners and losers: the full year-on-year industry ranking

At the level of PKD divisions, the highest year-on-year increases in services production were recorded in publishing activities, up 23.8%, telecommunications, up 15.4%, and accommodation, up 15.3%. At the opposite end of the ranking were programming and broadcasting activities, down 15.3%, travel agency, tour operator and related activities, down 9.8%, and employment activities, down 5.6%.

Monthly comparison: film industry production falls sharply

Compared with March 2026, the largest decline in production was recorded in motion picture, video and television programme production, sound recording and music publishing activities, down 36.7%. Computer programming and consultancy activities fell by 12.2%, while management consultancy activities declined by 8.8%. Monthly increases were recorded in legal, accounting and tax consultancy activities, up 8.3%, publishing activities, up 8.0%, and accommodation, up 5.4%.

Double-digit growth in real estate activities and telecommunications, combined with weaker performance in administrative services, suggests that the recovery in services in April 2026 was selective, driven by specific industries rather than by a broad and evenly distributed improvement in economic conditions.

Preliminary data for April 2026 may be revised in subsequent publications by Statistics Poland. Some indicators for March 2026 have already been adjusted compared with previously published values. The index covers service-sector entities employing 10 or more people in Sections H, I, J, L, M, subject to certain exclusions, and N under PKD 2007.
