ROSI secures over EUR 20 million to expand high-value solar panel recycling in Europe

ROSI, one of the leaders in the photovoltaic panel recycling market, is strengthening its position as a major European player in high-value PV recycling. The company has announced more than EUR 20 million, nearly PLN 90 million, in new financing to accelerate its industrial development in Europe.

The funding includes a Series B round as well as French and European grants. The capital will support ROSI’s industrial projects, including the development of a new plant in Spain, the company’s first fully standardised production line based on its recycling technology.

The new facility will be built in Teruel, Spain, and will have an annual processing capacity of 10,000 tonnes. It will mark a major step in the industrialisation of PV panel recycling in Europe.

Nearly PLN 90 million in financing and new investors

The Series B investment round involved new international investors and existing shareholders, including InnoEnergy, CMA CGM, EIC and Spanish family office G3T. Zurich-based Finadvice, a financial adviser specialising in DeepTech, also advised on the transaction and joined the group of investors, alongside family offices from Switzerland and Poland.

“This financing is an important milestone for ROSI,” said Dr Yun Luo, CEO and co-founder of the company. “It allows us to accelerate industrial development, improve operational efficiency and prepare for the next phase of growth in Europe. Our goal is to build a European industrial platform for the circular economy and the production of strategic raw materials, transforming end-of-life photovoltaic panels into a stable source of high-quality materials for the industries of the future.”

According to Mikołaj Budzanowski, CEO of InnoEnergy CE, ROSI is one of the most distinctive projects in the company’s portfolio, with unique technology, a clear industrial deployment strategy and proven ability to scale in Europe.

“By supporting its development, we are building a sustainable European value chain in the solar energy sector. Importantly, this operating model could also be applied in Poland, which is already one of the fastest-growing photovoltaic markets in Europe and will soon have to face the issue of panel recycling,” Budzanowski said.

Romain Girard, Investment Manager at CMA CGM, described ROSI as the type of circular industrial platform Europe needs.

“It has distinctive technology, a clearly defined path to industrial scale, a significant contribution to strategic resource resilience and real potential to reduce the carbon footprint in the photovoltaic value chain. At CMA CGM, we are pleased to continue supporting ROSI in this new stage of development and to watch the company strengthen its industrial presence across Europe,” Girard said.

New plant in Spain with capacity of 10,000 tonnes per year

As part of the INSPIRE-PV project, supported by the European Innovation Fund, ROSI is scaling up its photovoltaic module recycling facilities. Building on the experience gained at the ROSI Alpes plant, the company is accelerating its expansion with the construction of a new facility in Teruel, Spain.

The new plant will feature an integrated and highly automated production line designed for large-scale deployment. With an annual processing capacity of 10,000 tonnes, the facility will supply high-purity secondary raw materials such as silver, silicon, copper, aluminium and glass.

The project supports the development of a scalable circular economy model for the European PV sector. It will help reduce dependence on imports of critical raw materials and strengthen the European supply chain. Solar panel recycling enables the recovery of key metals and materials, including silicon, which is of strategic importance for European industry.

Such facilities also have clear potential in Poland. Similar solutions are already operating in Germany, and their role is expected to grow as the photovoltaic market in Central Europe matures.

Poland’s photovoltaic market remains relatively young, as most installations were built in recent years. At the same time, it is one of the fastest-growing in Europe. Over the past five years, installed PV capacity in Poland has increased sixfold. If the market continues to grow at a high pace, the coming decades will also bring a significant volume of end-of-life panels requiring efficient recycling.

New director of ROSI Alpes plant

ROSI’s management team has been strengthened by the appointment of Thierry Galvez as head of the ROSI Alpes plant. With more than 30 years of experience in the photovoltaic industry, gained mainly at Photowatt, he brings significant expertise at a key stage of the company’s development.

His work will focus on industrial efficiency, operational excellence and preparation for the next phases of expansion.

The ROSI Alpes plant has also been selected by Soren to recycle photovoltaic panels collected in France in the coming years.

By 2050, tens of millions of tonnes of photovoltaic panels will reach the end of their service life. ROSI’s technology addresses this challenge by enabling the recovery of valuable, high-purity materials and offering a more efficient, higher-value alternative to traditional recycling methods.
