On 26 June, Toyota officially opened the Toyota Digital Hub in Wrocław, where nearly 200 specialists will develop applications, cloud infrastructure and cybersecurity solutions.
The opening ceremony was attended by, among others, Michał Jaros, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Development and Technology, and Shinichi Yasui, Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Europe. During the event, they signed a public aid agreement supporting the creation of jobs in IT services research and development under Poland’s Investment Support Programme for projects of significant importance to the national economy for 2011–2030.
The Toyota Digital Hub is expected to employ around 200 engineers. Its team will be responsible for developing the MyToyota and LexusLink+ applications, which are used by nearly 2 million people across Europe. These apps allow users to manage their vehicles remotely, check battery charge levels and access a range of convenience-related services.
The team will also co-develop the cloud infrastructure supporting connected services for Toyota and Lexus vehicles across Europe, while providing cybersecurity support.
“This project strengthens the position of Wrocław and Poland as one of Europe’s key centres for modern technologies and software development,” said Michał Jaros, Secretary of State at the Ministry of Development and Technology.
This is another Toyota investment in Wrocław. Since 2015, the city has also been home to Toyota’s Shared Services Centre, which provides finance and accounting services as well as internal audit support for all Toyota entities in Europe.
“The Toyota Digital Hub is expected to play an important role in software development in Europe and strengthen Toyota Motor Europe’s position as a trusted partner in future global work on software-defined vehicles,” Shinichi Yasui, Executive Vice President of Toyota Motor Europe, said during the ceremony.
Toyota Central Europe, headquartered in Warsaw, is responsible for the sales and distribution of Toyota and Lexus models in Poland, Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Hungary. Toyota’s operations in Poland also include two manufacturing plants in Wałbrzych and Jelcz-Laskowice, which employ 2,900 people and supply advanced hybrid powertrains for Toyota vehicles produced in Europe.
