Foreign tourists in Poland in April 2026: 727,000 visitors, most from Germany

In April 2026, 727,100 foreign tourists used tourist accommodation establishments in Poland, receiving nearly 1.62 million overnight stays. Germans were the largest group, with 160,600 visitors, accounting for 22% of all foreign tourists in Poland. International visitors stayed for an average of 2.23 nights and chose hotel facilities more often than domestic tourists (87.1% compared with 78.5%).

Foreign visitors accounted for 22.8% of all guests and 22.5% of overnight stays. The average length of stay was similar regardless of visitors’ origin: 2.26 nights overall and 2.23 nights for foreign tourists.

Germany clearly in first place

Tourists from Germany dominated the arrivals structure, with 160,600 visitors, or more than one-fifth of all foreign guests. They were followed by visitors from Ukraine (69,000), the United Kingdom (68,100) and the United States (52,900). The four largest source markets jointly accounted for almost 48% of foreign tourists. Italy, the Czech Republic, Spain, France, the Netherlands and Lithuania also ranked among the top ten markets.

Length of stay: visitors from distant markets stay longer

The average length of stay varied significantly between source markets. German tourists stayed the longest, averaging 2.69 nights, the highest figure among the major markets. Visitors from the United Kingdom (2.27), Denmark (2.25), Norway and Ukraine (2.15 each) also stayed longer than the average for foreign tourists. The shortest stays were recorded among tourists from neighbouring transit markets, including Lithuania, Latvia and Belarus, at around 1.4 nights, reflecting border proximity and shorter visits.

Foreign guests favour hotels

Foreign tourists chose hotel facilities more often than domestic visitors: 87.1% of international guests used hotels, compared with 78.5% of Polish tourists. The highest hotel shares were recorded among visitors from Finland, Norway, Denmark and Sweden, at more than 92%. Neighbouring markets, such as Ukraine (82.2%) and Belarus (83.1%), recorded lower shares, where other types of accommodation played a larger role.

In April 2026, the four largest source markets — Germany, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States — jointly accounted for almost half of foreign tourists using Polish accommodation establishments. Germany alone provided more than one-fifth of all foreign visitors and the longest average stays.
