Poland’s Leasing Market Grows by Nearly 11% in 2025

Leasing companies in Poland signed 669,000 new contracts worth a combined PLN 98.6 billion in 2025, marking a 10.8% year-on-year increase. Road transport vehicles continued to dominate the market, accounting for 80% of new contract value, while passenger cars alone represented 57.7%.

The surveyed leasing companies signed 669 thousand new contracts in 2025, covering 886 thousand assets with a combined value of PLN 98.6 billion. The value of leasing granted rose by 10.8% compared with the previous year. Road transport vehicles accounted for 80.0% of the value of new contracts, and passenger cars alone for 57.7%.

Statistics Poland (GUS) has published data on the activity of leasing enterprises in 2025. The survey covered 87 entities, of which 61 were limited liability companies, 23 joint-stock companies and three of other legal forms. In 2025 these entities signed 669 thousand new contracts with 523 thousand lessees, leasing out 886 thousand assets worth PLN 98,607 million. At the end of the year, the surveyed enterprises employed 11.5 thousand people working in leasing, and the distribution network comprised 1.7 thousand branches and authorised representative offices.

Scale of activity in 2025

All key activity measures increased relative to 2024. The number of new contracts rose by 12.6%, the number of leased assets by 11.2%, and the value of leasing granted by 10.8%. Finance lease contracts accounted for 77.2% of the value of all contracts signed in 2025, and operating lease for 22.8%.

Asset structure of leasing

Road transport vehicles dominated the value of new contracts, with a share of 80.0%. The second segment was industrial machinery and equipment (16.4%). Computers and office equipment accounted for 1.0% of the value, real estate for 0.5%, and other assets for the remaining 0.5%.

Lessees by type of activity

Looking at lessees by type of activity, the highest value of new contracts was recorded in transportation and storage (PLN 17,515 million), which overtook trade in 2025 (PLN 15,970 million). Manufacturing also posted a clear increase (PLN 15,614 million). Together, entities from transportation, trade, manufacturing and construction signed new contracts worth PLN 60,047 million, accounting for 60.9% of total contract value. Clients from the Mazowieckie Voivodeship made up 30.6% of lessees who signed new contracts in 2025.

Financial situation of leasing enterprises

The financial data cover 65 entities keeping full accounts, for which leasing was the sole or dominant type of activity. The value of their assets rose by 7.3% in 2025, to PLN 243,044 million. Total revenue amounted to PLN 30,866 million (up 1.7%), and total costs to PLN 28,881 million (up 3.0%). The net financial result of this group stood at PLN 1,499 million — 50 enterprises generated a net profit of PLN 2,144 million, while 15 recorded a loss of PLN 645 million.

The value of new leasing contracts reached PLN 98.6 billion in 2025, and all key activity measures — the number of contracts, the number of assets and the value of financing — grew by between 10.8% and 12.6% year on year.

The market remains shaped by road transport, which accounted for 80.0% of contract value, including 57.7% for passenger cars. On the client side, the value of financing grew fastest in transportation and manufacturing, while trade held close to its 2024 level.
