What does the services production index measure?
Statistics Poland notes that the services production index measures monthly changes in the volume of services production, meaning the value of turnover in constant prices generated on the market by service enterprises. The data cover entities employing 10 or more people.
The aggregate includes, among others, transportation and storage, accommodation and food service activities, information and communication, real estate activities, selected areas of professional, scientific and technical activities, as well as administrative and support service activities.
In a broader perspective, the data confirm that the services sector remains an important component of economic activity. The overall services production index in February was clearly above the 2021 level, and after seasonal adjustment it continued to grow both year on year and month on month.
