Polish Tourism in 2025: Domestic Travel Rises and Foreign Visitors Spend PLN 61.6 Billion

Tourism in Poland gained momentum in 2025, with 44.9 million guests using accommodation establishments, up 10.1% year on year. Polish residents spent a record PLN 119.5 billion on travel, while foreign visitors contributed PLN 61.6 billion to the economy during their stays.

In 2025, 44.9 million tourists used tourist accommodation establishments—10.1% more than a year earlier. They were provided with 111.7 million overnight stays. Travel-related spending by Polish residents rose by 10.4% to PLN 119.5 billion, while 77.8 million foreign visitors arrived in the country.

Statistics Poland has published its report, “Tourism in 2025.” A total of 44.9 million tourists used tourist accommodation establishments, up 10.1% from 2024. The number of domestic tourists increased by 9.6%, while the number of foreign tourists rose by 11.8%. A total of 111.7 million overnight stays were provided (+7.2%), including 21.5 million to foreign tourists. At the end of July 2025, Poland had 28,800 accommodation establishments, of which 17,700 (61.4%) had fewer than 10 beds. Establishments with 10 or more beds offered 887,200 bed places.

Accommodation capacity and tourist traffic by region

The largest numbers of tourists were recorded in accommodation establishments in Mazowieckie (7.7 million), Małopolskie (6.7 million) and Dolnośląskie (5.1 million). The highest number of overnight stays was recorded in Zachodniopomorskie (17.3 million), followed by Małopolskie (17.0 million) and Mazowieckie (12.5 million). Per 100 residents, the largest number of tourists using accommodation was recorded in Zachodniopomorskie (254). Bed occupancy in establishments with 10 or more beds reached 40.2%, compared with 40.1% a year earlier.

Travel by Polish residents

In 2025, 21.3 million Polish residents aged 15 or over took at least one private tourist trip involving an overnight stay (+5.3%), representing 68.5% of people in that age group. In total, Polish residents made 83.2 million tourist trips (+5.5%). Domestic travel predominated, at 65.0 million trips, including 37.7 million short trips (2–4 days) and 27.3 million trips lasting 5 days or longer. The number of international trips totalled 18.2 million, mostly longer journeys (14.6 million).

Travel-related expenditure by Polish residents aged 15 or over reached PLN 119.5 billion, 10.4% higher than in 2024. Domestic trips with overnight stays accounted for PLN 53.7 billion (+9.0%), international trips with overnight stays for PLN 51.8 billion (+14.6%), and international same-day trips for PLN 14.0 billion (+1.5%). Average spending per person was PLN 599 on a domestic trip lasting 2–4 days and PLN 1,538 on a trip lasting 5 days or longer; for international trips, the respective figures were PLN 2,453 and PLN 3,410.

Foreign arrivals in Poland

In 2025, 77.8 million foreigners arrived in Poland, including 21.4 million tourists (+8.6%) and 56.4 million same-day visitors (-1.4%). They were mainly residents of neighbouring countries, who accounted for 59.1% of tourists and 97.9% of same-day visitors. German residents were the largest group among visitors, representing 31.5% of tourists and 49.5% of same-day visitors. Foreign visitors spent PLN 61.6 billion during their stays in Poland (+8.3%), of which PLN 41.3 billion was spent by tourists and PLN 20.3 billion by same-day visitors.

Border traffic

The estimated number of crossings at Poland’s land borders with EU countries—Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Lithuania—was 207.2 million, down 0.6% from 2024. Airport border traffic reached 61.1 million people, including 37.7 million crossings by Polish residents (+11.9%) and 23.4 million by foreigners (+10.5%). A total of 1.8 million people crossed the maritime border (+1.9%).

Tourist traffic at accommodation establishments increased in 2025: the number of tourists rose by 10.1%, while overnight stays increased by 7.2%. Growth was recorded in 14 of Poland’s 16 regions, with the highest numbers of overnight stays reported in Zachodniopomorskie, Małopolskie and Mazowieckie.

Among Polish residents’ travel activity, spending on international trips with overnight stays grew the fastest (+14.6%). In inbound foreign travel, the number of tourists staying overnight increased by 8.6%, while the number of same-day visitors edged down slightly.
