The popularity of wooden houses in Poland is growing– according to data collected by Oferteo.pl. In the first half of 2023, interest in them was greater than in the entire year 2022. The number of inquiries in this category on Oferteo increased by over 70% during this time. Since 2021, 97% of orders for constructing wooden buildings have related to single-family homes.

This article contains information about:

– The popularity of different types of wooden houses.
– The state to which the builders were supposed to bring the object.
– The technical parameters of the construction and roof.

Over the last three years, seven out of ten wooden houses were made using frame technology.

Wooden houses in Poland are usually built using two dominant technologies – frame and log. The former constituted 70% of inquiries in the “Wooden Houses” category – results from data from Oferteo.pl, the largest Polish service connecting service seekers with their performers.

Usually, because in as many as 97% of cases, wooden objects were single-family/stand-alone houses. There were occasionally orders for constructing a wooden house in terraced construction or so-called twins. Such orders constituted 2%. The rest of the wooden buildings were industrial or commercial-service in nature.

Poles don’t want wooden houses in the raw open state.

When ordering the services of a construction company, a decision must be made to what state it is to bring the object. Most often, because in 37% of cases, wooden houses are ordered in the so-called “turnkey” state i.e., already ready to move in, without the need to carry out finishing work. In 35% of cases, the orders related to developer status. Less often, because in 22% of cases, it was a closed rough state, protected from weather conditions by means of windows and doors, among other things. Orders to bring the house to a rough open state were the least frequent.

Usually without a basement, but with a functional attic.

One of the elements that significantly raises the costs of investment is basement buildings. Only 1 in 10 investors decided to take this step. Meanwhile, 63% of orders assumed that the object will be equipped with a functional attic, which allows additional usable space to be obtained.

Most orders (60%) included making the roof of roof tiles. Some houses were covered with ceramic tiles (22%) or metal sheeting (13%). Cement tiles were less frequently chosen (5%).

8 out of 10 wooden houses were built with a classic gable roof. Multi-slope constructions were chosen in 7% of cases. From time to time, orders were placed for single slope roofs, envelope or flat – each of these types constituted 4% of orders.
