The latest, 4th edition of the “Leasing Index” study conducted by Santander Leasing indicates that currently, 36% of small businesses report having used leasing (currently or in the past). Interest in leasing has increased by 19 percentage points among companies that employ between 10 to 49 people.

Comparison to the Leasing Index survey conducted in previous years shows that in 2023, there was a decrease in using all external forms of financing. Currently, 36% of companies employing up to 49 employees on a permanent basis declare that they use leasing (currently or in the past). The percentage of users has therefore decreased by 13 percentage points compared to 2021 and by 7 percentage points compared to 2019. Meanwhile, 13% of surveyed companies currently declare they use long-term rental. Compared to 2021, this percentage decreased by 2 percentage points.

“It should be noted here that the decrease in interest in leasing was noted in the group of small businesses employing a maximum of 9 employees. However, a completely opposite trend was observed among larger companies employing more than 10 employees, where compared to our 2021 survey, the increase was as much as 19 percentage points,” emphasizes Tomasz Jąder,
