Centralny Port Komunikacyjny has begun talks with two companies competing to supply passenger boarding bridges for the terminal of Poland’s planned new national airport. The procurement covers 72 bridges under the basic contract and a further 20 under an optional extension.
The talks are being conducted as part of a competitive dialogue procedure aimed at selecting the technical and organisational solutions that will be used at the airport developed under the Port Polska investment programme.
Passenger boarding bridges will be among the most important elements of the new terminal’s equipment. They will allow travellers to move directly between the terminal and aircraft, improving comfort and safety regardless of weather conditions.
The infrastructure is also expected to shorten boarding and disembarkation times and improve the operational efficiency of airlines, ground-handling companies and airport services.
Two companies remain in the procurement process
Six applications to participate in the procedure were originally submitted, while five contractors were invited to join the competitive dialogue.
Two companies have now qualified for the next stage after meeting the formal requirements:
- Adelte Airport Technologies;
- TK Airport Solutions.
The purpose of the dialogue is to work with the bidders on the optimal technical and organisational arrangements before final bids are submitted.
The invitation to submit price offers is scheduled for the third quarter of 2026. The tender is expected to be concluded in the first quarter of 2027.
Up to 92 passenger boarding bridges
The selected contractor will equip the airport terminal with 72 passenger boarding bridges under the basic scope of the agreement.
The contract will also include an option to order an additional 20 bridges, bringing the total number to 92.
The procurement covers the preparation of the detailed design and workshop documentation, as well as the manufacture, delivery, installation and commissioning of the equipment.
Once the airport becomes operational, the contractor will also be responsible for maintaining and servicing the boarding bridges.
“Passenger boarding bridges are one of the key elements of a modern terminal. They significantly improve the travel experience by allowing passengers to move safely and comfortably from the terminal directly onto the aircraft, regardless of weather conditions, while also improving operational handling,” said Dr Filip Czernicki, president of Centralny Port Komunikacyjny.
He added that the start of the competitive dialogue was another step towards preparing the airport infrastructure in line with high passenger-service and operational-efficiency standards.
Another stage in preparations for the new terminal
The procurement is part of the wider preparations for the construction and equipment of the new airport terminal.
Port Polska is a large infrastructure programme being implemented by Centralny Port Komunikacyjny. It includes the construction of a new national airport, a high-speed railway network and roads surrounding the airport.
The programme also covers the development of a logistics centre, an Airport City commercial district and regional development projects in the area surrounding the planned airport.
The passenger boarding bridge contract is one of several specialist procurement procedures required before the terminal can become operational. The final technical solutions will be agreed during the ongoing dialogue with the two shortlisted contractors.
